Summary[]
Rick and Morty is an adult animated sci-fi sitcom created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon that began airing on Adult Swim in 2013. Starting off as a vulgar parody of the Back to the Future franchise, the series has since been greenlit into a full-on TV show and has continued to release episodes ever since. The show revolves around the misadventures of the nihilistic and cynical mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his kind-hearted but fretful grandson Morty Smith, who split their time between domestic life and interdimensional adventures. Other characters that appear in the franchise include Jerry, Beth, & Summer Smith (Morty's father, mother, & sister, respectively), Birdperson, Squanchy, and the enigmatic Mr. Poopybutthole.
The franchise has also gotten an anime series, a mobile game, two claymation shorts called Rick and Morty: The Non-Canonical Adventures, and a spin-off web series based on the Vindicators from Rick and Morty's fourth episode of its third season, "Vindicators 3: The Return of Worldender".

- Rick and Morty, Adventure Time, and Steven Universe are the only franchises in the game owned by Cartoon Network.
- Unlike the other two, however, Rick and Morty is the only franchise with a show that airs on Adult Swim.
