Plot[]

Level One: The Rabbit, the Witch, and the Star Child[]

Two children, Dylan and Madison, play a fighting game with Superman and Batman as their chosen characters. Dylan wonders why would Superman and Batman fight if they're friends, but Madison doesn't care because it's just a game and it's supposed to be fun. As they play, a mysterious child covered in a hood watchines Dylan and Madison from a distance.

Meanwhile, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman find themselves in a mysterious purple corridor filled with lights and strange symbols. Suddenly, a white light envelops them and Clark awakens in his bed with Lois at his side. In his sleep, he had been using his heat vision to burn one of the symbols from his dream into a wall in his room. The symbol depicts a child with a star in his body.

The next day, at the Daily Planet, Clark searches the Internet for information about the symbol from his dream, but so far, his search has proven fruitless. He didn't even find anything relevant in the database from the Fortress of Solitude. Lois, already aware of Clark's problem, tells him to talk to his friends about it. When Clark asks how did Lois know about the symbol, Lois says that he forgot to remove her from the Justice League's group chat.

Superman calls his friends and they reveal they had the same dream, but saw diffrent symbols. Batman saw the symbol of a rabbit, while Wonder Woman saw a witch. The heroes share the symbols and, suddenly, the symbols begin discharge some kind of energy that envelops the heroes and knocks them unconscious. Once they wake up, the figure out they are in a neighborhood of Jersey City, with only Dylan and Madison around to keep them company. When Dylan mention the name "Avia", the heroes quickly deduce he is talking about the daughter of Scott Free and Big Barda.

They go to the Free household and Batman attempts to kick the door, only for Wonder Woman to ring the bell and asks Avia about her parents. Avia nervously fakes ignorance to the heroes' presence and an annoyed Batman kicks down the door and the heroes advance to the living room and see that Avia is trying to hide something or someone behind the closet, while a video game console is connected to some kind of New God device. They open a closet, revealing Bugs Bunny inside, and Superman tells Batman they have found his rabbit.

Level Two: Sequence Breaking[]

At the home of Big Barda and Scott Free, Batman has tied Bugs Bunny and starts to interrogate him. Batman believes Bugs to be a vanguard to some kind of invasion but Bugs genuinely has no idea of what Batman is talking about. He even jokes during the whole interrogation and this convinces Batman the rabbit is harmless. Meanwhile, Superman has baked cookies for Avia and asks her about the Daughter Box, the device she has built with New God technology. She explains that her parents were called to investigate some kind of signal beyond the Source Wall, something that Avia herself found strange because there isn't anything beyond the Source Wall.

As Wonder Woman inspects the Daughter Box, Batman and Bugs make their way to the living room and the Daughter Box starts interacting with Avia's TV set. Suddenly, an energy beam is fired into the sky and the heroes get information from the Watchtower that multiple interdimensional portals have opened all over the world. While Superman and Wonder Woman go out to investigate, Batman takes what's left of the Daughter Box to the Batcave.

Flash races to Central City to investigate some of the mysterious visitors and finds them in a Big Belly Burger joint. The Gotham City PD has already taken Condiment King under custody and one of the officers explain that the visitors had already defeaed him. They are Shaggy Rogers and Scooby Doo and they are in the middle of eating burgers.

Piloting her Invisible Jet to Africa, Wonder Woman wants to investigate an interdimensional breach near Gorilla City, only to be attacked by a group of winged gorillas with green helmets and bracelets. Although her Jet is destroyed, Wonder Woman puts up a valiant fight, until she is ambushed by the gorila's leader: a green-skinned witch who only calls herself "wicked".

At the Batcave, Batman monitors the strange events happening all over the world, but he is suddenly trapped by a series of metallic tentacles.

Superman returns to Metropolis and finds Parasite and Livewire battling two of the interdimensional travelers: Steven Universe and Garnet. The villains believe the Crystal Gems to be easy targets, only for the Crystal Gems to surprise them with their weapons and combat skills. Superman traps the villains with his cold breath and tries to strike up a conversation with Steven and Garnet, only to be interrupted by the arrival of a large spaceship hovering above the city. It's similar to that of Brainiac, but it has the shape of an old man with spiky hair. It's only message is "Wubba-lubba-dub-dub, Earth!"

Level Three: Safe File Corrupted[]

After a difficult struggle, Wonder Woman apprehends the Wicked Witch and her gorilla minions, while catching a glimpse of Monsieur Mallah and the Brain, who were present at Gorilla City when the Wicked Witch began her attack.

Back at Metropolis, John Stewart and Hawkgirl assist Steven and Garnet repelling the robotic forces that had emerged from the mysterious ship hovering above the city. Superman has already broken into the ship and tries into detain its commander, only to be attacked by robots controlled by someone who seems to know a lot about Superman, even referring to him as "Kal-El". As Superman traverses the ship, he notes that whoever is behind the attack has a similar methodology to that of Brainiac.

Batman, who had already been captured and brought into the ship, manages to communicate with Superman and confirms that Brainiac is indeed behind the attack. Although Batman has been miniaturized and locked inside one of Brainiac's bottled cities, he escapes and attempts to rendezevous with Superman, who has just broken into the bridge and located Brainiac. Superman keeps Brainiac distracted, while Batman uses his small stature to avoid Brainiac's tentacles and climb into his face. Then, he stabs the Coluan with a special Batarang that short-circuits Brainiac and shuts down his technology. For now, the invasion is over. As they inspect Brainiac's computers, Superman and Batman find security footage of Brainiac coming into conflict with a drunken human scientist, who hacked into Brainiac's technology and built robots based on the fighters from Avia's video game.

The heroes have taken their interdimensional visits to the Fortress of Solitude for protection. Batman, restored to his normal size, notes that the visitors possess from their home universes and has deduced that a mysterious entity called "Devoid" is forcing them all to fight under the threat of destroying their universes with an entropic force known as "the Nothing". When Superman asks why hasn't Devoid attacked their universe and Batman replies that perhaps Devoid isn't aware of their existence yet. Wonder Woman believes Devoid will learn about them so long as the visitors remain here and Batman believes they should sent their visitors back home and plan a counterattack against Devoid.

Elsewhere, in a remote jungle, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy have recovered a strange reindeer-like dog from a swamp, while the Joker, having planted a bug in Scooby's collar, has become aware of Batman's plan and is looking forward to ruin it.

Level Four: The Fast and the Furriest[]

At the Quinzel-Isley residence, Harley gives a bath to the reindeer-dog creature she and Poison Ivy had adopted, until their house is attacked by the Joker, who is interested in taking the creature, which Harley dubs "Reindog". Ivy tells Harley to take Reindog and escape while she holds off Joker. Harley takes Reindog to her car and drives off the swamp.

At the Fortress of Solitude, the interdimensional visitors are growing impatient with the Justice League's efforts to bring them home. Brainiac, still trying to free himself from the strange code that had infected his programming, explains the concept of the Multiverse to his fellow visitors and Bugs asks if there is a way to leave the Fortress. Steven protests and reminds Bugs that Superman told them to stay put, but Bugs, in his usual humorous way, explains to Steven that there is no guarantee that the heroes of the universe can bring them, so it's best if the visitors can find ways to defend themselves if they fail. Brainiac succeeds in unlocking their containment cells and the visitors escape.

Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman attempt to find the final fighter that Devoid brought to their world. Their search brings them to Gotham City, where Harley has gone to in her attempt to keep Joker from taking Reindog. Harley breaks through a police blockade set up by the GCPD and while Superman saves the cops, Batman and Wonder Woman chase after Harley and attempt to convince her to give up the visitor under her protection. Harley, having grown attached to Reindog, refuses and sets off bombs that destroy the Batplane, but Alfred deploys the Batmobile so that Batman stays in the chase. She even distracts Superman with a Starro plush doll which Superman confuses with the genuine article.

The chase gets harder when the visitors, having acquired vehicles from the Fortress of Solitude, reach Gotham. Harley attempts to cross a bridge, only for Joker to blow it up with a rocket. The visitors' vehicles get caught in the explosions and Superman tries to save as many as he can, but Joker disorients him with a second rocket and fails to catch Steven, who falls into the waters below.

Trivia[]

  • Scooby-Doo and Tweety can be seen in promotional art for the comic, being the only NPCs to do so.
    • Several characters who currently don't physically appear in the game such as Looney Tunes's Wile E. Coyote, and DC's Lois Lane and Darkseid will also appear in the comics.
      • Out of all these characters, Wicked Witch of the West is the only one that comes from a Universe that has yet to be represented in the game (being The Wizard of Oz).
  • Steven can be seen in his aged-up design from Steven Universe: The Movie in one of the promotional artworks done for the comic.
  • The second variant cover for Issue #2 appears to be an homage to the box art of the 1998 crossover fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes.
  • The synopses for Issues #5 and #6 mention a seemingly original villain named Devoid, who collects fighters for his Imaginarium using his "digitizing drones". Given their similar names, Devoid may be related to The Nothing.
